Pocket Full of Colors

Mary Blair is an inspiration, so it’s no surprise that a book about her life would curate such vivid feelings about making art. Can I just say; my girls LOVE this book! The story, the illustrations, the ending!? Colors come alive inside this story and make you really look closely for the beauty in your surroundings. It’s also a great reminder that it’s okay to color outside the lines, or even make your own, with that set of 64 crayons you’ve been dying to use.

We’re planning to utilize all those lovely color swatches for a self-portrait project inspired by this book. I have all sorts of ideas brewing in my mind and I’m sure my little ones will too once we get started.

Tell me; what would you do with a pocket full of colors like these?
