Red Wagon

The snow is finally disappearing from our backyard with the help of a few sunny days. We broke out our red wagon this morning for some fresh air and then snuggled up with this cute book before rest time in the afternoon. This book has been in our little collection for quite some time; originally delivered to Miss E from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

Lucy had a brand-new little red wagon. But instead of playing with it right away, her mother asked her to take a trip to the market for vegetables. Lucy turns the seemingly boring chore into an adventure in imaginary play. She sails the seas during a rain storm, treks across the frontier in a covered wagon, chugs up the hill in a train, and so much more. With the help of a few cute animal friends, their journey to and from the market is full of the best kind of play.

We immediately fell in love with the warm and fuzzy illustrations which reminded us a lot of our retro Little Golden Books. This simple story is a great lesson in making the best of every situation.
