Danny and the Dinosaur

There’s a pretty stellar dinosaur exhibit at our local museum which has influenced all three of my little ladies to become interested in dinos for the first time. We don’t own a ton of dinosaur books, but of course I jumped at the chance to pull out this classic. This is one that I vividly remember and cherish from elementary school.

Originally published in 1958 by Harper & Row, this title is well-known by quite a few people in our family, even my 7 year old recognized the cover from school.

Danny visits the museum where he spots the dinosaur exhibit and wishes he could play with one. Suddenly a dinosaur comes to life and they have the most amazing adventures together. I think this is every child’s dream; to spend the day with a dinosaur. And in the end, Danny isn’t sad that he can’t keep the dinosaur forever, he’s simply happy about their most amazing day together.
